Canvas Studio Captioning

Canvas Studio allows you request or upload captions to media files. Canvas can create captions in several languages. At this time, Canvas Studio will not translate from one language to another. The language spoken must be the language you are requesting for the captions.

You must be the owner of the Canvas Studio media to add captions. If you own the media, you can add the captions in the Canvas Studio Media Library or from within a Canvas course. Currently, uploaded YouTube videos cannot generate caption files.

Canvas Studio supports multiple caption files to Canvas Studio media. One caption file can be added for each of the languages supported by Canvas Studio. Users will receive an email when automatic captions are ready for review. This will help users avoid having to continually refresh the page for updates.

Captioning will work if played back at 1.5x or 2x speed.

Automatically generated caption files can be downloaded as a ZIP file and include both the original and latest SRT files. Uploaded caption files can be downloaded as SRT files.
