Custom Background Colors in Canvas

Add some color to your Canvas pages.
Don’t be boring - you’re better than that!

Don’t get me wrong, there is definitely some value to the default black text on white background that we see on so many (*ahem ALL) our Canvas pages. It’s the maximum amount of contrast and allows for technically easy readability and accessibility. But there is also value in changing things up a little bit. Add some variation and creativity. Let your students know that you are interested in presenting this content to them and that the course wasn’t created by robots.

This tutorial walks through the concept of creating background colors and choosing CSS color schemes. Add some flair to your course. You can visit the supplementary Canvas page and grab the final code that we ended up using in the video:
